Taking care of your new Teak Furniture

Teak Furniture
Our teak furniture
Teak requires no preservatives or treatment of any kind to protect it from the elements. If left outside without oil then the natural teak will gradually turn a light silver grey colour over time. You will begin to notice the "greying" after 3 months or so, depending upon the amount of sun and rain the furniture is subject to. The "greying" is only on the surface layer and can be removed by cleaning with soapy water and a poly-bristle scrub brush. If you wish to maintain the rich honey colour of your garden furniture, you simply utilize a little teak oil 2 or 3 times per year to restore its natural lustre.

Our furniture can be left outside and with little a care will be with you and your family for generations to enjoy. It is one of the hardest, strongest and most durable of all woods, highly resistant to rotting and almost impervious to the effect of sun, rain, frost or snow and hence these characteristics make it the ideal wood for outdoor furniture as it can be left outside for 12 months of the year, even in New Zealand! We do recommend a cover over the furniture in the winter to save a cleaning job at the start of the Spring

We do not oil our Teak; it arrives in its natural form for a good reason. (oiling will be fine if you choose to do so) The Teak is super fine sanded and looks beautiful natural. This will also solve the yearly maintenance required if you purchase stained or oiled furniture. Sanding and re-oiling each year is no easy task! We ask you to note that some manufacturers will try to disguise inferior grade of wood by staining/oiling Poor quality, although still a hard wood contains very little natural oil and rubber. This will result in decay and rot very easily. Low grade hardwood and especially Teak is an "insult" to the real thing and is best avoided at all costs.
